Moira Weitz, homebirth midwife with Rooted In Love Midwifery serving eastern Iowa including Cedar Falls, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, and Iowa City

Allie Kubik,

MSN, ARNP, CNM

Allie has been captivated by the beauty of home birth since 2019, after nearly a decade of hospital-based nursing experience in labor and delivery and women’s health. She approaches each birth with a gentle confidence, trusting in the woman’s innate ability to give birth and to nourish her baby. Whether you are having your first baby or your tenth, there is always something to learn and Allie loves to teach. She enjoys studying health restoration particularly through homeopathy and nutrition.

Outside of her midwifery career, Allie likes to spend her time homeschooling her three children, spending time in nature, and cozying in with a cup of coffee and a good book (mostly nonfiction).

Moira WEitz,

MS, ARNP, CNM, CPM, IBCLC

Moira has 20+ years of experience as a home birth midwife, and is honored to be a part of each family’s birth journey. Working as a midwife and giving birth to seven children at home, she has the insight to support women in the childbearing years and recognizes the strength that all women possess. She loves helping mamas and babies maximize their breastfeeding experience through her IBCLC training and experience. As an herbalist for over 30 years, she enjoys helping women of all ages on their path toward optimal health.

When not homeschooling her children, watching babies be born, and running a household, she enjoys gardening, making herbal preparations, camping, knitting, pickle ball and hosting meals.

Meet the Nurses

Heather Durney

BSN, RN

After having five kids of her own, Heather fulfilled a long-time dream and went back to school to become a nurse. She worked in emergency and intensive care where she sharpened her skills in helping people through critical situations. Her nursing career has continually renewed her awe of the human body and its perfect design. Before becoming a nurse, she was certified as a doula and knew her heart belonged in birth work. Being invited into the room where life enters this world is sacred and she feels honored to do this for her job. She is passionate about helping women feel safe and heard, and helping them have the birth they desire.

After Heather’s sixth baby was born, she became a nurse with Rooted in Love Midwifery. She loves to adventure with her family, play games with her kids, and go for long walks after dinner. In her spare time, she tries to convince her husband to buy her a milk cow!

Rivka Levin

BSn, RN

Rivka’s midwifery training began in 2006, after working as a nurse in internal medicine and ICU. After graduating, she worked as a hospital midwife for 6 years in Israel, where she was born and raised. Since moving to the US, she has worked as a nurse in research, infertility, and labor and delivery. She feels so fortunate to return to the midwifery model of care, serving as a nurse to mothers in those magical moments of transition to motherhood.

She was introduced to home birth by a professor and she quickly came to love the holistic approach and trusting the natural birth process - so much that she chose to give birth to her own children at home. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hosting Shabbat dinners, hiking, reading, karaoke singing, and snuggling with her kids. Additionally, her professional interests include childbirth education, Bach flower remedies certification, and aquatic bodywork certification.
